Groom suffers brain hemorrhage due to loud DJ music at wedding in Kadana

Kadana: The marriage season is in full swing, and loud DJ music has rushed in popularity.

Incident Raises Alarming Concerns Over High-Frequency Sound Pollution

The wedding season in Gujarat has brought a surge in loud DJ music, but a tragic incident in Kadana, Mahisagar district has raised serious health concerns. A groom suffered a brain hemorrhage and lost consciousness, reportedly due to excessive noise during his Baraat procession.

What was meant to be a moment of celebration quickly turned into a medical emergency. The groom, seated on horseback, collapsed before completing his wedding rituals and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Call for Ban on High-Frequency Sound Systems

Following the incident, a concerned youth from Sanoda village (Dahegam taluka) has formally requested the Forest and Environment Department to impose a ban on high-frequency DJ music at social, religious, and wedding functions. He cited increasing health risks linked to loud music, including stress, hearing impairment, and neurological issues.

Legal Action and High Court’s Concern Over Noise Pollution

The Gujarat High Court has previously expressed serious concerns over noise pollution. Despite its March 4, 2024 order directing strict enforcement of noise regulations, compliance remains inconsistent across the state.

A recent contempt petition pointed out that authorities, including city police commissioners, have failed to take strict action against violators. Many residents hesitate to report noise complaints due to fear of disputes, further complicating enforcement efforts.

Rising Health Risks of Loud Music

Experts warn that prolonged exposure to high-decibel DJ music can cause:

  • Hearing loss and tinnitus
  • Increased blood pressure and heart strain
  • Neurological stress and potential brain hemorrhage
  • Disrupted sleep and mental health issues

The incident in Kadana serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for stricter noise pollution controls to prevent further health hazards.
