Gujarat Govt & L&T sign MoU to establish construction skill training institute in Vadnagar

Vadnagar: In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inscribed in Gandhinagar between the State Government’s Department of Labour, Skill Development, and Employment and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited.

This is a vital step towards promoting skill development and employment opportunities.

In a significant move to enhance skill development and employment opportunities, the Gujarat government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited.

The agreement, signed in Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, will lead to the establishment of a Construction Skill Training Institute (CSTI) in Vadnagar, North Gujarat.

Key Highlights of the MoU

The State Government’s Department of Labour, Skill Development, and Employment has allocated 10 acres of land for the institute, while L&T will fund the construction and infrastructure under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at an estimated cost of ₹22 crore.

Skill Development and Employment Benefits

The CSTI will serve as a hub for training a skilled workforce in construction technology. The trained professionals will support major infrastructure projects, including the Dharoi Dam region, Bharatmala projects, and other mega construction initiatives.

Beneficiaries and Training Programs

The institute will benefit youth from the districts of Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana, and Patan by offering specialized short-term courses, including:

  • Structural and Finishing Technology
  • Smart City Technician (CCTV and Optical Fiber Communication – OFC)
  • Solar and Transmission Line Tower Erection
  • Fire and Life Safety

Over 1,000 young individuals will receive training each year, with accommodation and meal facilities provided during the program.

Formal Agreement Exchange

The MoU was signed by Shri K.D. Lakhani, Director of the Gujarat State Skill Development Mission, and Shri J. Kabil, Vice President (HR) of L&T, marking the official partnership to boost skill development in Gujarat.
