As the heatwave intensifies across Gujarat, the Meteorological Department has issued severe weather warnings, urging residents to take necessary precautions. 

The department predicts that the heatwave in Ahmedabad will persist until May 25, leading to alerts being issued in multiple districts.

Driven by anti-cyclonic circulation, temperatures have soared across the state. The following areas have recorded extreme temperatures:

  • Surendranagar: 45.4°C
  • Ahmedabad: 45.2°C
  • Vadodara: 45°C
  • Rajkot: 45°C
  • Gandhinagar: 45°C
  • Chotaudepur: 44.1°C
  • Bhavnagar: 44°C
  • Dahod: 44°C
  • Deesa: 43°C
  • Bhuj: 42.6°C
  • Surat: 42°C
  • Narmada: 42°C

The Ahmedabad Police have reported a rise in emergency service calls, with the 108 service receiving 80 calls related to heat-related illnesses over the past 20 days. Hospitals have also seen a surge in patients seeking treatment for heat-related conditions.
