Your Excellency Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi clarified the four categories that are eligible for retirement in the Sharjah government as of this January.
Your Highness, The four categories eligible for retirement in the Sharjah government as of this January were clarified by Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member as well as Ruler of Sharjah, during a call on the “Direct Line” programme, broadcast on Sharjah’s radio and television.
1. Those who have reached the legal retirement age fall into the first category, 51 people.
2. Those who have been employed by the government for 35 years and have funds saved up in the Sharjah Social Security Fund that are 100% sufficient for them but who are under the legal retirement age fall into the second category.
3. The third group includes people who have worked for 30 years or more and who consent to the government purchasing their retirement by making retirement contributions to the Sharjah Social Security Fund.
4. Women who meet the requirements for retirement and have worked for the emirate’s government for 20 years are eligible for the fourth category.
Dr Sheikh Sultan pointed out that there are other circumstances in which people can retire, such as those who have chronic illnesses and for whom the government pays the remaining sum to the Sharjah Social Security Fund so they can do so, and also those who are incompetent and therefore unable to contribute.
Job possibilities
The Sharjah Ruler introduced that there are new projects that will create a lot of jobs, such as the electricity projects in Khorfakkan as well as Kalba that require a lot of workers, as well as in the Layyah area where the energy-supplying infrastructure is currently being replaced.
In addition to a sizable electricity project and another water project in the Al Hamriyah area, as well as small but significant water projects in agriculture, livestock breeding, and food production.
