Though the Mandi-Kullu highway reopened late Monday night after over 20 hours of closure, travelers’ woes continued on Tuesday as many other essential highways remained closed due to the Himachal landslide.

Tourists who made a beeline for the popular resort found themselves stranded far from their destination due to the closure of over 300 highways. 

The rain scenario will remain the same for the next 24 hours, as the IMD issued an orange alert in the state.

Here are some latest updates on Himachal Landslide:

1. On Sunday, The Mandi-Kullu highway was closed for about 20 hours. It was unveiled on Monday evening.

2. On Tuesday morning, the Tandi-Killar State Highway-26 was closed due to a flash flood in Dared Nala.

3. On Monday, traffic on the Chandigarh Manali National Highway in Manali was restored to a single lane.

4. The Mandi-Pandoh segment, closed due to a landslip around 6 Miles, reopened on Monday night.

A flash flood is a sudden flooding of low-lying areas that usually affects small areas. The state’s relentless rain triggered the Himachal flash flood. The flash flood hit the Bagiput area of Mandi district near Prashar Lake. A cloudburst also occurred near the Baghi Bridge in Mandi.

There were numerous landslides on the Pandoh-Mandi National Highway between Charmile and Satmile.

IMD issued an Orange alert:

Himachal Pradesh had 301 highways closed. On Monday, the authorities aimed to restore 180 highways, with 15 scheduled today. The IMD has issued an orange alert for the state. The administration has issued flash flood warnings for Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Kullu, and Kangra towns.
