Here’s the team India XI in 2nd T20 vs Srilanka, look who replaced Samson

Key Takeaways:

  • The second and third T20Is between Team India and Sri Lanka will be played without Sanju Samson.
  • Jitesh Sharma has been recalled by the BCCI to replace Samson, and it will be intriguing to see if he gets to make his debut right away.

Sanju Samson won’t be available for Team India’s second and third T20Is against Sri Lanka.

In the opening over of Sri Lanka’s chase in the Mumbai T20I, the right-handed batsman hurt his knee while attempting to take a catch.

He played out the rest of the game while still having a niggle in his knee while still fielding.

The BCCI has recalled Jitesh Sharma to fill in for Samson, and it will be interesting to see if he gets to make his debut immediately.

Samson can be replaced by a few of Team India’s other players. Three players could step in for Sanju Samson as the Men in Blue prepare for the second T20I.

Rahul Tripathi

Despite travelling with Team India for more than six months, right-handed batsman Rahul Tripathi is still awaiting his opportunity. In his native state, Tripathi’s wait might soon end.

If Tripathi makes his debut, he might be asked to bat at number 4 or 5, even though he currently plays at number 3 in the IPL.

Tripathi could win his first cap due to his strong IPL performances, which earned him his first call-up. In 125 T20s, he’s scored 2801 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has experience playing white-ball cricket, is another candidate to join the starting XI. His speciality as an opener, however, could work against him.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are scheduled to debut in India. If he is added to the starting XI, Ruturaj will have to bat in the middle.

Tripathi, an Indian batsman who can bat in the middle of the order, might get the call.

Washington Sundar

Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad can be completely disregarded by the team management, which could result in a surprise.

Washington Sundar has demonstrated his bat skills in white-ball cricket and is capable of making significant contributions. In T20Is, Sundar bowls first and has the potential to contribute early with important wickets.

Compared to Ruturaj and Tripathi, Sundar has an advantage in all areas of the game and is a strong candidate to play in the second T20I.

Have a look at team India’s playing 11 for today’s match:

  • Ishan Kishan
