Hot Days and Warm Nights Persist in Ahmedabad

Hot days and warm nights in Ahmedabad are here for at least another week. According to the latest prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are not expected to get rain for at least one more week, if not more.

Hot Days in Ahmedabad Predictions by IMD:

After predicting that rains would proceed to Ahmedabad by the end of the weekend, with showers expected over the city by Sunday night or Monday and rains expected to cover the entire state by June 12, the IMD reversed this prediction on Friday.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD stated that rainfall would remain limited to the eastern and southern areas of Gujarat till June 12 and possibly expand to north-eastern districts on June 13–14.

Current Rainfall Situation:

On Friday, rainfall remained limited to Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Tapi, the Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and some districts of Saurashtra, like Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, and Gir-Somnath.

Future Rainfall Expectations:

The IMD stated that these conditions would likely prevail in Southeast Gujarat and southern Saurashtra until June 10. Rainfall is likely to expand to the north-eastern districts of Aravalli and Dahod by June 12 and continue until June 14.

The IMD issued weather warnings for the next five days, predicting light thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds of 30–40 kmph (in gusts) accompanied by light rain in these areas.

Temperature Reports:

On Friday, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar reported the highest maximum temperature at 43 degrees Celsius.

Surendranagar followed this at 42.8 degrees, Rajkot and Anand at 42.3 degrees, Banaskantha at 41.7 degrees, and Vadodara at 41.6 degrees. Kutch reported a temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius.
