The Gujarat government on Wednesday selected IAS officer Raj Kumar as the new Chief Secretary of the state. 

Raj Kumar, who is now the additional chief secretary (Home), will substitute incumbent Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, whose eight-month elongation expires on January 31. He will become the 31st Chief Secretary of Gujarat.

IAS officer Raj Kumar will replace Pankaj Kumar: 

The state government’s General Administration Department (GAD) stated on Wednesday. Electing Raj Kumar as the next Chief Secretary on January 31, the government even ordered him to officiate as the Office on Special Duty in the Chief Secretary’s office till January 31.

A Gujarat-cadre IAS official of the 1987 batch, Raj Kumar is a resident of the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. He is an alumnus of IIT, Kanpur. He even has the additional charge of the Industry & Mines Department.

Raj Kumar, who is now the additional chief secretary (Home), will substitute incumbent Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, whose eight-month elongation expires on January 31. Raj Kumar will become the 31st Chief Secretary of Gujarat.
