Gold Worth ₹2.49 Crore Seized at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai Customs seized over 4.65 kilograms of gold valued at ₹2.49 crores in 12 separate cases on Friday, according to the Airport Commissionerate, Mumbai Customs Zone-III.

The gold was found concealed in various methods, including within a dry iron, the frame of a check-in bag, clothing worn by individuals, on their bodies, within body cavities, and in both check-in and cabin bags.

This seizure follows a previous incident on February 22, where Mumbai Customs confiscated over 8 kilograms of gold, valued at approximately ₹4 crores, along with five iPhones in eight separate cases.

The concealment methods employed were diverse, with gold hidden in the frame of a check-in bag, within crockery boxes, among clothes being worn, and inside handbags.

This series of seizures underscores the ongoing efforts by Mumbai Customs to curb smuggling activities and maintain security at the airport.
