IMD predicts Light rainfall in parts of India. Southwest monsoon 2023
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to heavy Rainfall across practically the whole country in the coming days.
In its most recent notification, the weather department stated that the advancement of the southwest monsoon in some regions of the Bay of Bengal produced good circumstances for widespread Rainfall.
Heatwave are also possible, says IMD:
Heatwave conditions are possible in isolated areas of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh today and tomorrow, as well as in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand tomorrow and the next day.
Hot and humid weather is also expected in the Konkan region during the next four days, as well as in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh today.
According to the IMD, mild to moderate Rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is possible throughout most of south India over the next four days.
Similarly, scattered to moderately widespread Rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on May 22 and 23.
Similar conditions will be experienced across Chhattisgarh over the following four days.
The weather service has also forecast heavy rain in isolated areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal as well as Sikkim today and on May 23. A similar weather pattern is expected for Assam and Meghalaya on May 23.
