IMD rainfall prediction 5 to 10th may 2023

IMD rainfall prediction 5 to 10th may 2023

As per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast, rainfall and thunderstorm activity will continue throughout most of India this week.

A new spell of rain, followed by lightning and gusty gusts, is expected to begin over northwest India, including the western Himalayan regions, on Sunday, according to the weather forecasting agency.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are expected in isolated areas across Punjab and Haryana until May 7.

Heavy rain is also anticipated over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during May 7 and 8, as well as Arunachal Pradesh and Assam until May 5.

The weather department has also warned about Cyclone Mocha’s formation in the southeast Bay of Bengal, which is projected to land on the country’s eastern coast between May 7 and May 9.

Because of the likelihood of creating a cyclonic storm, the weatherman has advised fishermen not to get into the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas beginning Sunday.

“Fishermen, small ships, boats, and also trawlers are advised not to venture in the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas beginning May 7 and into the central Bay of Bengal beginning May 9,” stated HR Biswas, Head & Scientist, MeT Centre, Bhubaneswar.

From May 8 to 11, the IMD also advised limiting tourists, offshore operations, and shipping over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

While the IMD has yet to issue a specific warning for Odisha, the government has already issued alerts to collectors in 18 coastal and adjacent districts, as well as officials from 11 departments.

All cyclone-prone districts are maintained and ready at all times. District administrations, as well as the NDRF, ODRAF, and others, are prepared for any scenario.
