48.62 per cent of individuals in Jammu and Kashmir exercised their franchise on Tuesday in the next stage of the District Development Council (DDC) elections.
In Kashmir, the voting ratio has decreased, while in the Jammu division, it increased slightly compared to Phase 1. Though just one-third of the total electorate cast their votes in Kashmir, in the Jammu Division, it was two-thirds.
state election commissioner KK Sharm stated:
In the second phase of J&K, state election commissioner KK Sharma said a total of 48.62 per cent of voters voted.
“In Kashmir, the polling rate was 33.34 per cent and in the Jammu division, 65.54 per cent,” he stated. 51.7 per cent of votes were registered in the first phase on Saturday-40.65 per cent in Kashmir and 64.2 per cent in Jammu.
In order to determine the fate of 321 candidates in the fray in the second level, 196 in Kashmir and 125 in Jammu, the vote was conducted in 43 seats around the UT.
There were as many as 2,142 polling stations set up around the UT. The primary rivalry is between the Gupkar Declaration People’s Alliance (PAGD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Apni Party.
As SEC stated:
The SEC said the polls were peacefully conducted across the country. The condition was good overall in all 20 districts.
In Jammu or Kashmir, there were no untoward incidents reported. In Jammu, he said, only a single incident of an argument about the legitimacy of the identity proof of an individual took place.
The highest and the lowest polling in Jammu and Kashmir:
The highest polling in Bandipora was registered in Kashmir, where 69.66 per cent of voters voted, followed by Kupwara at 58.69 per cent. Sharma added Pulwama registered Kashmir’s lowest of 8.67 per cent surveys, a terse greater than 6 per cent of Phase 1.
The highest voting rate in Jammu was 75.07 per cent in Poonch, followed by 69.97 per cent in Jammu. In the Kathua district, the lowest percentage was 60.1%. In the second process, 1,35,990 of the 7.90 lakh voters eligible to vote cast their votes in Kashmir and 2,41,411 in Jammu.
The polling percentage registered in Budgam in the Kashmir Division was 43.51%, Kulgam 29.90 per cent, Srinagar 33.78%, Baramulla 28.95 per cent, Shopian 17.28, Pulwama 8.67 per cent, per cent, and Anantnag 16.09 per cent.
Similarly, the survey percentage of 61.64 per cent was registered in Kishtwar in the Jammu division, 64.80 per cent in Doda, 66.23 per cent in Ramban, 62.51 per cent in Udhampur, 66.38 per cent in Samba as well as 69.27 per cent in Reasi, and 60.21 per cent in Rajouri.
DDC elections first big electoral exercise:
After the revocation of Article 370 in August last year as well as the bifurcation of the former state into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the DDC elections were the first big electoral exercise to take place in Jammu and Kashmir.
The eight-phase election will come to an end on December 19, and the counting will take place on December 22. On December 4, the third phase of elections will be conducted.
