South Africa’s T20 World Cup: Quick left arm South Africa’s cricket board announced on Wednesday. Marco Jansen has been name to the country’s 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
The 22-year-old pacer took over for all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius. Who was ruled out of the T20 World Cup after injuring his left thumb during the recent T20I series against India.
Jansen was originally part of the travelling reserves also will be replace by pacer Lizaad Williams, according to a press release from Cricket South Africa (CSA).
Jansen was in the T20I squad for the recent series against India but did not play. He took over for Pretorius in the ODI series before making the T20 World Cup squad.
The left-hander has played seven tests for South Africa, taking 37 wickets and scoring 200 runs. He took two wickets in two One-Day Internationals.
South Africa will play warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Before beginning their official campaign against a qualifying team on October 24 in Hobart.
Temba Bavuma (C), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, also Keshav Maharaj, Aida Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Tristan Stubbs make up South Africa’s squad.
