Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the world’s largest inoculation campaign towards Covid-19 with two vaccines newly approved by the Indian drug regulator.
According to an update from the Union Health Ministry, India registered 13,788 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday. The countrywide tally reached 10,571,773 with this.

In that time, the nation also saw 145 deaths due to the disease, which brought the number of deaths to 1,52,419.
In the number of Covid-19 cases, India has seen a decrease in the daily as well as weekly decline. The country reported 107,701 new Covid-19 cases in the week ending January 17, which would be down 14.73 per cent from the week before.
In terms of death, the cumulative deaths were 1,275 in the previous week, while the comparable tally was 1,564 a week before, as per the statistics of the health ministry.
In addition, as per the Ministry of Health, the daily caseload was less than 20,000 over the last ten days.

On Sunday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan announced that over 2.24 lakh people have so far been vaccinated towards Covid-19. In six states, and over 17,000 beneficiaries were vaccinated – the second day of the campaign for vaccination.
Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, as well as Tamil Nadu are the six states in which the vaccination drive was conducted on Sunday.
To avoid interruption of routine health care, the states and union territories were instructed to arrange Covid-19 vaccination programs four days a week.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the world’s largest inoculation campaign towards Covid-19 with two vaccines newly approved by the Indian drug regulator, the Serum Institute’s Covishield as well as Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
The shots will be provided first to an approximate one crore healthcare worker and approximately two crore frontline staff, as per the government, and then to individuals over 50 years of age, followed by persons under 50 years of age with related comorbidities.
