Sooryavanshi Leads India A Into Sri Lanka Tri-Series Showdown

Sooryavanshi Steals the Spotlight

Teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is undoubtedly the most anticipated name on the teamsheet. Having already turned heads with his fearless strokeplay at the domestic level, the youngster now gets a significant opportunity to demonstrate his talent in an international A-team setup. Tilak Varma has been appointed captain of the India A side and will look to forge a cohesive unit around his gifted batting lineup that also includes Devdutt Padikkal, Priyansh Arya, and Ayush Badoni.

Injury Setbacks Reshape India A’s Squad

The lead-up to the tournament has been marked by a series of squad reshuffles. Riyan Parag, originally named vice-captain, was ruled out following an injury sustained during IPL 2026 while leading Rajasthan Royals. Ruturaj Gaikwad was drafted in as a replacement, but he was subsequently elevated to the senior Indian national team to cover for an injured Virat Kohli. Rajat Patidar has since been called into the India A setup to fill the vacancy, adding experience to what remains a predominantly youthful squad.

The wicketkeeping duties will be shared between Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra, while the bowling attack features promising names in Anshul Kamboj, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, and spinner Harsh Dubey. Live coverage of all matches will be available on Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV, with the opening game between India A and Sri Lanka A beginning at 10:00 AM IST on June 9. Following the white-ball leg, India A will also participate in two red-ball multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle, with the squad for those fixtures to be announced separately
