India tally of Covid-19 cases breaches 300,000 mark.

Worst day for India as 11,458 fresh infections were reported in a single day. Amit Shah, Harsh Vardhan to hold a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday to review Delhi’s Coronavirus situation.

India on Friday, reported its steepest single-day rise till date with 11,458 fresh Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, thereby breaching the 300,000 mark of total infections. The country’s Coronavirus tally now stands at 309,000 as per the Union Health Ministry’s data. The data also revealed that with fresh 386 deaths, India’s death toll rose to 8884. However, India took 134 days to reach the 3 lakh mark, which means it is the slowest country to reach 3 lakh cases.

Doubling rate weakens, Recovery Rate soars: 

In some positive news, the Health Ministry revealed that the doubling time of coronavirus has improved from 15.4 days to 17.4 days. Also, the recovery rate increased and stood at 49.9 percent, as 147,194 patients recovered from this fatal virus and 141,842 active patients are in treatment for the same. This is the fourth consecutive day when the registered number of recoveries has stayed above the number of active cases.

Arvind Kejriwal, Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to meet as Delhi registers over 2000 cases on a single day: 

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to review the Coronavirus situation in Delhi. Yesterday, for the first time, Delhi reported over 2000 cases in a single day spike. Last week itself, Delhi saw a huge surge of cases and the doubling time in the national capital also increased, which has given the centre a major worry. 

Maharashtra crosses 1 lakh mark:

With 3493 new infections and 127 deaths, on Friday, Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally stood at 101141 and death toll at 3717. This means that the Western state has contributed to over 1/3rd of the total number of cases & deaths in India.
