India Beat Afghanistan Again, Clinch T20I Series 2-0

India Beat Afghanistan Again, Clinch T20I Series 2-0

India continued their dominant run in the shortest format, defeating Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi to wrap up the three-match series with a game to spare. The result gave the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead, extending their unbeaten streak against Afghanistan in the format.

Batting Stars Power the Chase

The chase was built on explosive contributions from the top and middle order. Sanju Samson led the charge with a rapid 57 off just 22 deliveries, while Abhishek Sharma provided support with 39 runs off 19 balls. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma also played useful hands, ensuring India kept the required run rate under control throughout the pursuit. Together, the batting unit made light work of the target, finishing the chase with wickets and overs to spare.

Bumrah’s Comeback and a Costly Fielding Lapse

The match also marked a significant milestone as Jasprit Bumrah featured in his first series since suffering a knee injury while fielding during an ODI against England in July. Bumrah picked up a wicket while bowling tightly, though a fielding error by Shivam Dube in his opening over allowed Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan to collect a boundary through the mid-off region. Bumrah could only react with applause rather than frustration. Elsewhere, India’s bowling attack impressed collectively, with Nitish Kumar Reddy claiming three wickets for 24 runs and Arshdeep Singh picking up two, restricting Afghanistan and setting up another comfortable victory for the hosts.

With the series already sealed, India will look to complete a clean sweep in the third and final T20I.
