India’s charismatic
captain-vice captain duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retain the top two
batsmen positions in the latest ICC ODI rankings.

captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma retained the top
two spots in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. On Wednesday, ICC issued
the latest list of ODI rankings, where pacer Jasprit Bumrah held onto his no.2
positions among the bowlers’ list.
Virat Kohli retained his numero uno status in the latest ICC ODI rankings: Captain fantastic Virat Kohli retained the pole position with 871 points, followed by India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma at 855 points. The third best batsman in the world was Pakistan’s Babar Azam with 829 points. Among the bowlers’ rankings, New Zealand’s Trent Boult retained his number one position, while Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah remaining in the second spot with 719 points.
Ireland batsmen, bowlers shine in the latest ICC ODI rankings: In the batsmen rankings, Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie improve four places to reach the 42nd spot, post his 113-run innings against England in the last match at Southampton. Ireland vice-captain Paul Stirling’s 142 in the same match saw him rise one position to 26 in the rankings. In the bowler’s list, Ireland fast bowler Craig Young rose 40 places to a career-best 89th position after taking six wickets in the series against their neighbors, England. Although Ireland lost the series 2-1, many bowlers and batsmen got recognition due to their efforts in thwarting England.
England earned 20
points after the series win in the ICC men’s World Cup Super League,
which will 13 teams battle out direct qualifying places in the next World Cup
in 2023, to be held in India. Ireland is currently with 10 points. Hosts India,
along with seven other teams will directly qualify for the World Cup, while the
other two spots will be determined through a qualifier.
