India becomes the fourth-worst affected Coronavirus
country in terms of total deaths; recovery rate at 72.51 percent.
On Monday morning, India
reported a grim milestone of logging over 50,000 deaths in the country due to
the novel COVID-19 virus. Fresh 941 deaths were registered in the
last 24 hours, which took the country’s death toll to 50,921. This means that
India has become the fourth worst affected nation in the world, in total
deaths, and has surpassed the United Kingdom’s death toll. India is now only behind the United
States, Brazil, and Mexico.
India’s Coronavirus tally
breaches the 26-lakh mark:
In the last 24 hours, India registered fresh 57,981 COVID-19 cases, which meant that the country’s coronavirus tally has breached the 26-lakh mark. The total number of infections now stands at 26,47,663. For a thirteenth consecutive day, India has reported the highest number of daily cases in the world, more than the US and Brazil. The first COVID-19 case was reported on 30th January in Kerala, and in the next 200 days, cases have spiraled up to over 26 lakh.
Improvement in the Recovery
rate and testing rate:
As per the latest data released
by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 19,19,842 patients
have recovered from the deadly disease, and the total active coronavirus
infections increased to 676,900. The recovery rate in India has improved to 72.51 percent. Indian
Council for Medical Research (ICMR) on Monday, revealed that more than three
crore samples had been tested in the nations to date. On Sunday, ICMR stated,
that about 7.31 lakh samples were tested.
Globally over 21.6 million
people have been infected with the fatal virus and more than 774,000 patients
have succumbed to death, due to the coronavirus.
