In the Swachh Survekshan Results 2020, Indore
retained the top spot of being India’s cleanest city; Surat came 2nd, followed
by Navi Mumbai in 3rd.
As per the Swachh
Survekshan 2020 survey
results, Madhya Pradesh’s capital, Indore, retained the top spot as the cleanest city in
India for a fourth consecutive year. In the central government’s cleanliness
survey, Gujarat’s Surat came second, and Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai
grabbed the third spot. Meanwhile, the ‘best Ganga town’ went to Varanasi in
the latest survey results.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan lauded
the people of Indore for becoming India’s cleanest city for the fourth time:
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated all the people of Indore for retaining the tag of India’s cleanest city in the Swachh Survekshan 2020. Chouhan said that the city has hit a four this time and will hit a six in the future. Hardeep Singh Puri who is the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister at a ceremony announced the results. At the event, a book titled ‘Report on Assessment of 97 Ganga Towns’ was also released. The survey was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2016, under his Swachh Bharat Campaign. Mysuru had won the cleanest city award of India in the first edition of the survey, after which all four years, Indore has won the award.

part in Swachh Survekshan 2020:

Commissioner Pratibha Pal, talking to a news agency on Wednesday said,” We are
confident that with the help of our hard-working sanitary workers, public
representatives, and aware citizens of Indore, we will secure first place in
the cleanliness survey for the fourth consecutive time and our slogan of
hitting four terms of cleanliness will out to be true.” Total 1.9
crore citizens across 4242 cities of the country participated in the Swachh
Survekshan survey.
