Clouds of trouble are over Uttarakhand’s Joshimath. Whether Joshimath will be there or not is also a question in everyone’s mind. Amidst the discussion about the existence of Joshimath, a report by ISRO has set the lives of the people of Gujarat on the brink. Let’s know what is in the ISRO report…

Ahmedabad, the financial capital of Gujarat, is also falling into the ground like Joshimath and every year, it is sinking inwards.

A report by the ISRO Space Application Center has revealed a shocking study, which has reported that many regions of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, are sinking by some centimetres yearly. Ahmedabad is falling one to two and a half centimetres every year.

According to a report by Rakesh Dhumka, a scientist at the Institute of Seismology Research, Ahmedabad is dropping 12 to 25 mm, i.e. 1.25 to 2.5 cm, every year.

Cities in Gujarat are falling due to sea erosion and over-exploitation of groundwater, as groundwater is removed rapidly:

ISRO Space Application Center scientist Ratesh Ramakrishnan and his associates have made this research report. The title of which is ‘Shoreline Change Atlas of the Indian Coast-Gujarat-Diu & Daman’. In which it has been said that the 1052 km long coastline of Gujarat is steady.

It has been reported that 110 km of coastline is being corroded. Even in this, the process of encroachment on the 49 km distance is being revved.

Gujarat has lost 313 hectares of land:

Gujarat has lost 313 hectares of ground, and the city is falling deeper into the bed due to the rapid groundwater extraction. That is why the use of belowground water should be restricted. The report says that increasing sea levels and climate change are the primary reasons behind this.

Two hundred eight hectares of ground have risen in Gujarat. But Gujarat has lost 313 hectares of its ground due to sea eroding.
