It’s AAP vs Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in Delhi

Key Takeaways:

  • Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, staged a protest march through the capital against Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, who the ruling AAP claims meddle in official business.

On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal marched through the national capital against Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, whom the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accuses of interfering with government operations.

The feud between the AAP government and LG Saxena has spilled onto Delhi streets, with teacher training in Finland being one of the most recent flashpoints.

In a tweet directed at the Delhi LG, Kejriwal stated: “Delhi does not require tyranny, but rather a constitution and democracy. Our fight for human rights will continue.” Manish Sisodia, his deputy, was seen marching alongside Kejriwal and other party leaders while shouting slogans.

The Delhi Chief Minister said to reporters: “Who is LG sahab to halt teacher training? In response to the Delhi government proposal, we were told to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of teacher education in Finland… Doctors’ salaries in Mohalla clinics have been frozen.

Is he acting at the behest of the BJP?” The Chief Minister of Delhi and other AAP leaders also carried banners and raised slogans.

Manish Sisodia, the deputy CM of Delhi, brought up the topic of teacher preparation last week while decrying LG Saxena and the BJP for allegedly “destroying” the Delhi government’s educational model.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training prepared a proposal for a five-day training course for the primary in-charges of Delhi government schools and teacher educators at Jyväskylä University in Finland (SCERT).

According to our source, the state government approved this proposal for training 30 teachers and forwarded it to the LG, who instead sent the file back.

LG’s Office stated that the proposal was not blocked, despite Sisodia’s assertion that it was rejected. “The LG has not rejected the proposed Finnish primary-in-charge training programme. Any contrary assertion is false and motivated by malice, “said it.

In the meantime, there was high drama on Monday in the Delhi assembly, with the House being adjourned due to a dispute over LG Saxena’s alleged comments regarding the Supreme Court’s (SC) 2018 decision on the power struggle between the government and the Centre.
