Johnny Depp had alleged that his ex-wife Amber Heard
was the one who abused him and played a video that had Heard attacking her
sister, a day after her sister denied the incident.
Johnny Depp’s libel trial suit against a British tabloid, The Sun, on
Friday, presented video footage that his lawyers claim showed his ex-wife Amber Heard attacking her sister. Heard’s sister denied
that she had lied to the London court.
Video hints at a physical
confrontation between Amber Heard and her sister:
Hours after Whitney Henriques testified in court that she had never been attacked by Heard and that she was not afraid of her on Thursday, Depp’s lawyers said they received the video evidence from a “confidential” source on the same night. In the final session before the summation of the lawyers’ arguments, this video was played in the court where Henriquez is seen by a pool with a group of female friends, who remark “ did you get in a fight or something?” and “I can’t believe Amber beat your ass”, after which one of her friends inspects Henriquez’s cheek and arm, to which she replies that she doesn’t want to talk about it. The video as per Depp’s lawyers was unused reality TV footage from 2006 or 2007.
Amber Heard’s sister denies the
video footage evidence:
After viewing the video, Henriquez
said she had a verbal argument with her sister and that her friends were trying
to make a boring story, more interesting. She admitted that her friends were
looking for injuries but didn’t find one as nothing of the sort had happened.
David Sherborne, Depp’s lawyer, argued that in the video, injuries to Heard’s
sister were being examined and it is quite clear that she assaulted her sister.
The 34-year-old actress, Amber
Heard, in her four days of testimony this week alleged Depp of an array of acts
of violence, after getting high on drinking and drugs. The case is set to close
next week after 14 days of the infamous trial.
