Kia Sonet to launch in India: Expected Price.

Kia Sonet, one of India’s most longed-for vehicles, will finally go out on sale on (September 18) Friday. It is going to be the third product after the famous Seltos and the Carnival luxury MPV from Kia Motors India.

In the fiercely contested sub-4-metre SUV segment, the Sonet sub-compact SUV will be positioned against already proven rivals such as Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue.

In the past, Sonet has already made headlines for the kind of features that it promises to deliver, however in order to really set the segment on fire and make a name itself off, and it will have to set the price right.

It is safe to expect Sonet to start from around ₹7 lakh in India, based on the inputs from several Kia dealerships. But to make a mark, Kia will go for an even more aggressive entry price tag from about 6.70 lakh to around 6.80 lakh.

Naturally, this price could rise in the future as Kia used a similar strategy for Altos. A small hike had been made to the SUV as soon as the promotional offer expired within months of launch.

The projected entry-level pricing of 7 lakh would help Sonet undercut its rivals such as Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Vitara Brezza, all starting at a slightly higher cost of 7.34 lakh, some 7.95 lakh, and some 6.99 lakh, respectively.

In short, Kia is likely to bring the Sonet on the same lines as the Hyundai Venue, which is currently the leader in the segment and is priced at a price of ₹6.70 lakh.

In dual trim, the Sonet will be made available just like the Celtics. As well as the higher-spec GT Line trim, there will be a Tech Line trim. Prices for top-of-line variants may stretch up to a maximum of $13 lakh anywhere.
