Lallu Bihari accused of human trafficking, illegal settlements

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has imprisoned Lallu Pathan alias Lallu Bihari, a long-time fugitive from Rajasthan, following a three-day search launched after the Chandola Lake demolition drive.

Ahmedabad – Notorious local agent Lallu Bihari has been remanded for six days by a city court following his arrest in Rajasthan, amid serious allegations ranging from human trafficking to illegal land encroachment and electricity theft in the Chandola Lake area. The remand is notably shorter than the 14-day remand sought by the Crime Branch.

Decades of Criminal Activity Uncovered

According to investigators, Bihari has been operating for over 30 years, allegedly bringing Bangladeshi nationals illegally into Ahmedabad, forging fake identity documents, and settling them in unauthorized colonies on encroached government land near Chandola Lake. Authorities believe he profited by acting as a middleman in trafficking and settlement schemes.

Illegally Built Farmhouse Discovered

During a demolition drive targeting illegal structures around the lake, officials from the Crime Branch uncovered a farmhouse reportedly constructed by Bihari on government land. Adjacent huts housing the illegal migrants were also receiving unauthorized electricity connections, which, according to preliminary investigations, were orchestrated by Bihari and his son.

FIRs Registered, Intensive Probe Underway

Following the discovery, two FIRs related to electricity theft were filed by Isanpur police and the Crime Branch, prompting an extensive manhunt for Bihari. After evading authorities for three days, he was arrested in Rajasthan.

Officials are now intensifying efforts to uncover the full extent of Bihari’s network, with further interrogations and document reviews expected during his remand.
