Over 35 students stung in bee attack during trek on Mount Girnar

A group of 100 students and nine professors trekking around Joganiya Dungar on Mount Girnar were suddenly battered by bees.

A trekking expedition near Joganiya Dungar on Mount Girnar turned alarming when a swarm of bees attacked a group of students and instructors. The incident occurred around 9:30 am as the group, comprising 100 students and 9 instructors, was returning from a training session toward Pajanaka Bridge.

Sudden Bee Attack Prompts Emergency Response

According to camp director Shailesh Bolse, the bee attack happened suddenly and without warning. “We had gone trekking on Joganiya Hill on Girnar Mountain in the morning. While returning, a large swarm of bees attacked the students,” Bolse said. Reacting swiftly, the instructors contacted emergency services and called a 108 ambulance, ensuring that all injured were promptly evacuated.

35 Students and One Instructor Stung

In total, over 35 students and one instructor were stung by the bees. They were immediately rushed to Junagadh Civil Hospital, where they received emergency treatment.

Dr. Krutarth R. Brahmbhatt, Superintendent of Junagadh Civil Hospital, confirmed the details:

“More than 35 children were brought to the hospital after being stung by bees during the Girnar trekking camp. All received immediate medical attention. Fortunately, none of the children are in serious condition.”

He further explained that injections and medications were administered to reduce inflammation, a standard procedure in cases of bee stings. “Depending on the type of bee, treatment may vary, as poisonous stings can be life-threatening. Thankfully, all students were treated in time and are now safe,” he added.

Timely Action Ensured No Serious Injuries

Thanks to the quick response from the instructors and emergency services, the situation was brought under control without any fatalities or serious complications. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable risks in outdoor adventures and the importance of preparedness and rapid medical support in such emergencies.
