Vadodara: The incident occurred around a police station in the Varasiya locality around midnight when three people on a two-wheeler were thwarted by residents questioning their presence in the vicinity so late at night.
In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old man was killed, and his accomplice was injured after being assaulted by an angry mob in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The incident took place near a police station in the Varasiya locality around midnight when three individuals on a two-wheeler were confronted by locals, raising concerns about their late-night presence in the area. As the trio attempted to flee, two were caught by the mob and beaten, leading to one fatality.
Incident Overview
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya provided details of the event, stating that the three men were riding a stolen two-wheeler and were allegedly scouting for a potential robbery target.

When locals noticed them, they questioned the men about their presence in the area at such a late hour. As the suspects tried to escape, two of them were apprehended and assaulted by the crowd.
“Three individuals were on a stolen motorcycle. After parking the vehicle, they began walking, and some locals asked what they were doing so late at night. As they tried to flee, two were caught and beaten by the mob,” the DCP said.
Police Intervention and Casualties
Police arrived at the scene to disperse the mob, during which three officers were injured in the process. Despite their efforts, the mob managed to fatally injure one of the suspects, identified as Shahbaj Pathan, 30, who was later declared dead.
His accomplice, Akram Tiliyawada, 20, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
Both Pathan and Tiliyawada had extensive criminal records, with Pathan having 10 theft cases against him and Tiliyawada having 7.
Both were also booked under the Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act. The third man, Shahid Sheikh, managed to escape and also has a criminal background, including three cases under PASA.
Aftermath
The incident highlights the growing tensions in the area regarding criminal activities. Police are continuing their investigation, and efforts are underway to track down Shahid Sheikh, the third suspect who fled the scene.
