Tesla has appointed Vaibhav Taneja, of Indian descent, as its Chief Financial Officer.
Vaibhav Taneja, who is now the Chief Accounting Officer, will take on additional responsibilities as CFO. He will take over for Zachary Kirkhorn, who is leaving Tesla after 13 years.
Why Vaibhav Taneja as the Tesla CFO?
The reason for the change was not disclosed by the Elon Musk-led corporation, but Kirkhorn is anticipated to remain in his role until the end of the year to guarantee a smooth transition.
“Being a part of this company is a special experience, and I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done together since I joined over 13 years ago,” Kirkhorn wrote on LinkedIn.
The journey from Delhi to Tesla:
Vaibhav Taneja (45), a business graduate of the University of Delhi, joined Tesla’s staff following the company’s acquisition of SolarCity in 2016.
Along with his basic responsibilities as chief accounting officer, he accepted the key role of “Master of Coin” inside the organisation, according to the company.
Vaibhav Taneja was also named the director of Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited in January 2021. According to a Moneycontrol investigation, Vaibhav has over 20 years of accounting experience.
He has worked with a number of global corporations in the fields of technology, banking, retail, and telecommunications.
Tesla aims to boost the sale:
The hiring comes at a time when Tesla is looking to increase its sales and market share. According to news agency Reuters, the automaker even decreased the prices of its vehicles in order to achieve that goal, which affected its industry-leading profits.
Surprisingly, when investors expressed worries about Tesla’s succession plan, the exiting CFO Zachary Kirkhorn was considered Elon Musk’s replacement.
Elon Musk currently oversees SpaceX, Neuralink, and the Boring Company, in addition to Tesla. He is also the Chief Technology Officer of X (formerly known as Twitter).
