Misbah Praises Abhishek Sharma’s Net Practice-Like Performance

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq showered praise on India’s opening batsman Abhishek Sharma following his spectacular 74-run knock against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21. The left-hander’s blistering innings off just 39 balls proved instrumental in India’s successful chase of 172 runs, leading his team to a convincing six-wicket victory.

Calm Under Pressure Despite High-Stakes Debut

Misbah was particularly impressed by Sharma’s composure in his first encounter against Pakistan’s formidable bowling attack. “The kind of skill level and temperament he has is amazing. First time against Pakistan, it did not look like he was under pressure. Looked like he was playing in the nets,” Misbah commented while speaking on Tapmad after the game.

The 25-year-old dismantled Pakistan’s bowling lineup featuring premier pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, along with spinner Abrar Ahmed. His aggressive approach and calculated stroke play left even the opposition camp acknowledging his exceptional talent.

Strategic Brilliance Beyond Raw Power

Misbah highlighted Sharma’s tactical awareness, emphasizing how the young batsman consistently targeted Pakistan’s main bowlers to disrupt their rhythm. “The most important thing is that he always tries to take on the main bowler to put them under pressure. That really disrupts the team,” the former skipper explained.

The Pakistani legend stressed that Sharma’s attacking mindset wasn’t about reckless hitting but demonstrated intelligent shot selection. Throughout the tournament, Sharma had been contributing with brief cameos, but this commanding performance showcased his ability to convert starts into match-defining innings, establishing himself as a key player in India’s batting lineup.
