Mizoram declares a full UPSC Aspirants Scholarship.

On Tuesday, the Mizoram government declared that it would provide students who aspire to join civil and other central services with full funding, including coaching expenses.

The state government agreed at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Zoramthanga to work with reputable coaching institutes in Delhi to encourage aspirants to study for examinations by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), officials stated.

The meeting was attended by directors from different departments, such as Education, Labour Employment, Skill Creation and Entrepreneurship, Planning and Finance, and the Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC).

In addition to providing cash rewards for clearing prelims and mains exams, officials said, a complete scholarship will be offered to promising students who aspire to become civil servants to meet their expenses incurred while conducting coaching classes in Delhi.

To choose the qualified applicants, the state will administer an entrance test, they said. Application specifications will be published shortly, they said.

The number of Mizoram youths entering central services is steadily declining and there is a need to make massive steps in this regards, the Chief Minister informed the meeting.

He called for concerted efforts to encourage learners to contend with students from other nations. Zoramthanga said that to assist the students, his government should take all possible measures.

The Mizoram government also makes huge efforts through the Mizo Youth Commission (MYC) to help students enter commercial banks and corporations.

The MYC used to provide students who pass different tests, including UPSC, SSC, NDA, and state services, with cash rewards ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.

Grace Lalrindiki Pachuau, who entered the Tamil Nadu frame, was the last person from the state to crack the UPSC tests and become an IAS officer.

In 2014, Pachuau, the daughter of former Chief of State Secretary Vanhela Pachuau, passed the test. Since 2000, only five individuals from Mizoram have passed the UPSC exams.
