Gujarat Rain Forecast: As per the 5-day weather report released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, there is a high chance of light to moderate precipitation with thunderstorms in around 21 districts of Gujarat.
Flood-Hit State Sees a Decline in Rainfall Intensity
After experiencing torrential rains and flooding during the peak monsoon season, Gujarat is now witnessing a significant drop in rainfall activity. With the monsoon pausing over the Bay of Bengal, rainfall in the state has decreased from heavy downpours to scattered showers, offering much-needed relief.
Most districts are currently recording less than half an inch of rainfall, according to the latest observations.
IMD Predicts Light to Moderate Rain in 21 Districts
According to the 5-day weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in 21 districts of Gujarat. These include:
- North Gujarat: Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli
- Central and South Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad
The IMD also mentioned that some remaining districts may see isolated rain activity, though the likelihood is low.

Monsoon Trough to Pass Through North Gujarat and East Rajasthan
The weather department has reported that the monsoon trough is currently positioned to pass through East Rajasthan and North Gujarat, which could support further rainfall in these regions. However, the intensity is expected to remain mild.
Daytime temperatures across the state are ranging between 26°C (minimum) and 33°C (maximum).
Rainfall Status: Gujarat Receives 63.84% of Seasonal Average
So far, Gujarat has received 63.84% of its average seasonal rainfall. The region-wise breakdown is:
- South Gujarat: 67.73%
- North Gujarat: 66.20%
- Central Gujarat: 66.23%
- Kutch: 64.88%
- Saurashtra: 55.79% (the lowest in the state)
Outlook: Rain to Continue with Decreasing Intensity
The IMD forecasts similar weather conditions until Friday, with a weakening trend in rainfall expected toward the weekend. A rain system near Saurashtra may bring moderate relief to the region, which has recorded the lowest rainfall so far this season.
