MS Dhoni’s Monthly BCCI Pension Amount Revealed

MS Dhoni’s Monthly BCCI Pension Amount Revealed

MS Dhoni may have hung up his India jersey back in 2020, but his connection to professional cricket hasn’t faded. The former captain remains a fixture in the IPL and continues to be one of the most followed faces in Indian sport. Alongside his IPL earnings, brand deals, and business ventures, Dhoni also draws a monthly pension from the BCCI, awarded to players who represented the country during their careers.

How BCCI’s Pension Scheme Works

The BCCI overhauled its pension framework in 2022, boosting the amounts paid out to former internationals. Payouts are tiered based on the number of Test matches a player has featured in, with those who played more matches placed in higher pension brackets. This restructuring was aimed at offering greater financial security to cricketers who represented India, particularly those from earlier generations who didn’t benefit from today’s lucrative contracts and endorsement deals.

What Dhoni Takes Home Every Month

Dhoni featured in 90 Test matches across his international career, comfortably placing him in the bracket for players with 25 or more Test appearances. Under the current structure, this group receives ₹70,000 per month from the board. While this figure is a fraction of what Dhoni earns through IPL contracts and sponsorships, the pension reflects the BCCI’s broader effort to support former players financially long after they’ve left the international stage.

Dhoni’s continued presence in the IPL, paired with his enduring popularity among fans, means his earnings extend well beyond this monthly pension. Still, the payout stands as a reminder of the board’s recognition of his decades-long contribution to Indian cricket.
