Mumbai Police on High Alert After Terror Threat Claims 400 kg RDX in 34 Vehicles

Mumbai police have been placed on high alert following a threatening WhatsApp message received on their helpline, claiming that 14 terrorists have entered the city with 400 kilograms of RDX explosives planted in 34 vehicles. The threat comes at a critical time as the city prepares for Anant Chaturthi, the final day of the 10-day Ganesh festival, when lakhs of devotees are expected to throng Mumbai’s streets for the grand Visarjan processions.

Investigation Underway as Multiple Agencies Mobilized

The threatening message, received by the traffic police control room on Thursday, mentioned an organization called ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’ and warned of blasts that would “shake the country.” The Crime Branch has immediately launched a comprehensive investigation, while the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and other security agencies have been alerted and are coordinating response efforts.

Enhanced Security Measures Across Key Locations

In response to the threat, Mumbai police have significantly enhanced security arrangements across key locations throughout the city. Combing operations are being conducted at various strategic points, with special focus on areas where large crowds are expected during the festival celebrations. Security personnel have been deployed in greater numbers, and surveillance has been intensified at critical infrastructure and crowded public spaces.

Police officials have urged Mumbai residents to remain calm and not believe in rumors while encouraging citizens to report any suspicious activities immediately. The authorities are taking all necessary precautions to ensure public safety during the festival period, while investigators work to trace the source of the threatening message and verify its credibility.
