According to data from the district traffic department, fewer accidents and related fatalities occurred in the Navsari district in 2020 and 2021.
Truck drivers were informed of the rules of the road and counselled against using the first lane for their vehicles through traffic awareness programmes.
Up to 7423 two-wheeler drivers received citations and fines totalling Rs. 37,11,500 for operating their vehicles without helmets.
The district traffic department has provided information indicating that fewer accidents and associated fatalities occurred in the Navsari district in 2020 and 2021, which 196 people losing their lives on the district highway in the years 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Navsari District Police Chief Rishikesh Upadhyay created an action plan to prevent traffic accidents based on the directives given by Surat Range IG Piyush Patel to reduce the death toll. He also gave PSI Dr Jagrit Joshi of the Navsari District Traffic Branch specific instructions to do so.
An action plan was created, and heavy vehicles driving in the wrong lane on National Highway No. 48 were the target of 420 cases under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act and 40901 RTOs under MV Act 190(2), giving priority to their advice and direction.
Drivers of heavy vehicles were given the memo instructing them to pay the fine at the RTO.
Through traffic awareness programmes, truck drivers were made aware of the rules of the road and advised against using the first lane for their vehicles.
Traffic enforcement was conducted from July to December to prevent these fatal collisions.
As a result, there were 7% fewer fatalities in traffic accidents than the previous year. Only six districts or cities have seen a decline in the number of fatal traffic accidents across the entire state, as well as in six commissioner areas.
Bharuch, Vadodara Rural, Navsari, Tapi, Aravalli, and Panchmahal-Godhra are among these six districts/cities. On all the roads in the Navsari district, 108 people died between January and June of 2021.

Additionally, 123 cases of drivers under the influence were filed under the MVAct 185, and a total of 190 cases of squatters blocking traffic and illegally parking their cars under IPC 283. The circumstances and MV Act 207 detained 242 vehicles.
A total of 148 programmes were held at hotels and dhabas along National Highway No. 48, including installing reflectors in vehicles that were not already equipped with them, periodic medical camps, eye exams for drivers of heavy vehicles, and periodic medical camps.
Deaths from traffic accidents decreased by 7% in Navsari.
While there were 196 fatalities on the National Highway, State Highway, and other roads in the Navsari district in the years 2021 and 2022, respectively, there was a 5% rise in road accidents as well as a 3% increase in the state’s human death rate during the year-2022.
