On Saturday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated that the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP) aims to counter increasing developmental imperatives and revamp all aspects of the system of education.

“Discussing a webinar organized by Shimla’s WEEXPO India 2020, Thakur said That the National Education Policy (NEP) envisages an education system rooted in Indian ethos that directly contributes to the sustainable transformation of India, i.e. Bharat, into an equal and vibrant information society by providing everyone with high-quality education and thus making India a global knowledge powerhouse.

He stated the policy envisages that our institutions’ curriculum and pedagogy must build a deep sense of respect for fundamental duties as well as constitutional principles among students, bonding with one’s country, as well as conscious knowledge of one’s roles as well as responsibilities in a changing world.

Addressing the webinar organized by India’s largest virtual education show based in Karnataka, Thakur indicated that the New Education Policy (NEP) was introduced after 34 long years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that the state government also has agreed to enforce the National Education Policy effectively in the state. He said that several measures to achieve the desired objectives have already been initiated.

While appreciating the works of WEEXPO INDIA and its founder Dr SK Narayanan Swami’s vision to link the world towards modern knowledge-based education from grassroots to university level, Jai Ram Thakur stated that during the Covid pandemic, online learning, as well as virtual classes, supported the country’s students get education from their houses.
He stated that Himachal Pradesh’s literacy rate was second-best after Kerala in the country. He also added that Himachal Pradesh was ranked by a renowned magazine in the world as the best state in the country in the field of education.
