New Zealand’s opposition party rocked by pornographic text allegations.

A claim accused Andrew Falloon, of the main opposition party in New Zealand, had sent a pornographic image to a young woman; Fallon resigned from the Parliament today.

On Tuesday in Wellington, New Zealand’s main opposition party was rocked by grave allegations that accused Andrew Falloon, one of the party’s parliamentarians, to have sent a pornographic image to a young woman. The claims shook the opposition and National Party leader Judith Collins asked Falloon to resign from the parliament on the back of such outrageous allegations.

Judith Collins calls the act a disgrace:

While talking to Radio New Zealand, Judith Collins called the text “entirely inappropriate and a disgrace” after revealing that although she had not seen the image, she understood the image was of a female. Without addressing the specific allegations, Falloon said that he was dealing with the recent suicide of a friend, Falloon stated,” I have made a number of mistakes and I apologize to those who have been affected.”

Uphill task for the National ahead of the general elections:

With the general elections slated to occur in September 2020, the opposition’s claims of being more competent than the current government were undermined with this incident and is surely a huge blow to the National Party. It will now be very tough for the opposition to dethrone Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, whose handling of the Coronavirus pandemic in New Zealand, has garnered her overwhelming response world-over, and raised her popularity in the country. Last month, in a 1News/Colmar Brunton poll, it was revealed that Ardern’s Labour Party was on 50% while the National was on 38%.

More two women come forward with similar allegations against Falloon:

The accused member, Andrew Falloon, represented a rural electorate which is traditionally a stronghold for the conservative party, in New Zealand’s South Island. The police also revealed that after the news break of him resigning, two other women have come also come forward with similar allegations. The investigation in the matter is ongoing.
