There’s a reason why cigarette packs include a warning and why movies emphasize that smoking is “harmful” to one’s health.

While smokers would shrug at its sight and be repulsed by anti-smoking advertisements, it is essential to recognize the goal of such initiatives. One such day or event dedicated to the cause is No Smoking Day. As we all know, tobacco use can lead to a variety of chronic illnesses such as hypertension, high cholesterol. And liver and lung damage, and it is something that people should avoid.

The WHO said, “Every year, tobacco kills more than 8 million people. More than 7 million of the deaths are directly related to tobacco use. While approximately 1.2 million are connect to nonsmokers being exposé to 2nd-hand smoke.” That being said, smoking is not only harmful to those who smoke. But it can also have an impact on the health of those who live near smokers.

According to reports, India has nearly 267 million tobacco users, making it the world’s second-largest consumer and manufacturer of tobacco.

People continue to smoke despite knowing how dangerous it is and that it can lead to death. Why? Because it has become a toxic habit that is perceive to relieve stress. But that isn’t all.

Addiction is a significant factor in why people are drawn to smoking. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Nicotine is the main addictive drug in tobacco, making quitting so difficult. Cigarettes are design to deliver Nicotine to your brain quickly.”

The US Health and Human Services Department goes on to say. Nicotine causes the release of chemicals in your brain that make you feel good. Because Nicotine repeatedly stimulates parts of your brain, your brain becomes accustomed to the presence of Nicotine. Nicotine alters the way your brain functions over time. Making it appear as if you require Nicotine just to feel normal.”

However, when attempting to quit smoking, the brain becomes irritable.
