PM Modi in his sixteen minutes address urged people to take precautions in the battle against Coronavirus as India goes into Unlock 2.0

On Tuesday, at 4 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and announced the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana that will provide free food grain to over 80 crore poor people, due to the ailing economy caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. PM Modi said that the existing scheme till June has been extended till the end of November, or “Chhat Puja”. PM Modi revealed that the cost of this Yojana is around 90,000 Crore mark.

PM Modi warns people to be alert of Coronavirus:

The Prime Minister at the beginning of his address lamented on the fact that people of India have taken the pandemic lightly and warned them to maintain 2-feet distance as India entered the second phase of unlocking, Unlock 2.0. He urged people to maintain the social distancing norms set by the government, be more cautious, continue wearing masks, gloves, handkerchiefs, washing hands, etc., to win the tough battle against Coronavirus.

No mention of China by PM Modi:

PM Modi revealed that July brings the onset of monsoon in the country, and that will also trigger diseases like cold, cough, fever. He went on to point out that this period till November is also filled with many festivals, like Shravana month to Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, to Diwali, which demands more expenses. To provide the poor people with food grains will help them through the festive period.  

PM Modi before ending the address prayed for the health and well being of the Indian people, but failed to address the India-China border standoff or even the banning of 59 Chinese apps.
