Rise in Covid-19 Cases India, PM Modi conduct meet

In the wake of the spike in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a high-level conference today to examine public health preparedness. At 4:30 pm, a high-level meeting was convened.

The number of new infections in India has increased to 1,134, bringing the total number of active cases to 7,026, according to data the Union health ministry provided on Wednesday.

Five additional fatalities pushed the overall count of Covid-19 related deaths to 5,30,813. Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Kerala have all reported one death, while Kerala has confirmed one death. Positive sentiment was measured daily at 1.09 per cent and every week at 0.98 per cent.

In a letter sent last week to six states reporting a spike in Coronado cases, the Union Health Ministry raised the possibility that the uptick in cases might be due to a localized coronavirus outbreak.

“There are a few states which are registering higher count of cases showing the possible localized spread of infection, and also there is a need to follow a threat assessment based approach to control as well as contain the infection,” Union health secretary, Rajesh Bhushan, stated in a letter to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka.

“It is critical that the state keeps a close eye on any areas of concern and take pre-emptive action if necessary to control the spread of infection,” Bhushan said.
