India’s Coronavirus tally goes up to 343,091 lakh
with 9,900 deaths and 1.8 lakh recoveries.
PM Narendra Modi is
meeting the Chief Ministers of 21 states and UTs to discuss the recent spike of Covid-19 cases in the country. The meeting is also
centered on the gradual removal of restrictions. PM Modi will hold separate meetings with Chief
Ministers of states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat on Wednesday,
as these states have the most number of infections and deaths.
India’s Covid-19 tally at
343,091:
India on Tuesday, reported 10,667 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the country’s Coronavirus tally to 343,091 cases as per the Union Health Ministry’s data. The nation’s death toll also rose to 9900 after registering 380 new deaths in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate increased to 52.47 percent which means more than half of the positive patients have recovered from this deadly virus. About 180,012 patients have recovered and been discharged from the treatment and the total number of active Covid-19 cases stood at 153,178.
Satyendra Jain tests negative:
A day after he was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi, the Health
Minister of the national capital, Satyendra
Jain tested
negative for the Covid-19 virus. He experienced high fever and a noticeable
drop in oxygen level, prompting him to rush to the hospital for effective and
timely treatment.
Chennai will be in an intense
lockdown:
An intense lockdown for 12 days
from June 19 to 30 was declared by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaddi K
Palaniswami in
three districts, including Chennai. Tamil Nadu is the second worst affected state of
India due to the global pandemic and have planned the intense lockdown to be
followed rigorously so as to control the surge of cases in the southern state.
