PM Modi writes a letter heaping praises on MS Dhoni:

PM Modi wrote a letter to MS Dhoni, appreciating, and thanking his contribution to the Indian Cricket. PM Modi heaped praise on Dhoni’s illustrious international career, terming the two-time World Cup-winning ex-captain as the best example of a new India, where one’s destiny is not made because of their family name. The PM called MS Dhoni one of the best wicketkeepers and one of the greatest captains the game has seen. MS Dhoni shared the lengthy letter on his Twitter page and wrote that an artist, sportsperson, and solider just seek appreciation for their hard work and sacrifice they put in. He thanked PM Modi for his appreciation and good wishes.

PM Modi writes 130 crore Indians were disappointed following Dhoni’s retirement announcement:

Prime Minister, in his letter to MS Dhoni, highlighted how disappointed the whole nation was to see their most successful captain bow out of the game. The letter read,” 130 crore Indians were disappointed but also eternally grateful for all that you have done for Indian cricket in the last decade-and-a-half. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not be remembered merely for his career statistics or specific match-winning roles. Looking at you as just a sportsperson would be an injustice. The correct way to assess your impact is as a phenomenon.” Further in the letter, PM lauded his style of finishing matches and wished MS Dhoni a successful future in retirement.
