For a sixth consecutive day, daily Coronavirus cases in India remained above 20,000.

A day after the Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro tested positive of the novel COVID-19 virus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his wishes and prayers for Bolsonaro’s speedy recovery. On Wednesday, PM Modi in a tweet wrote,” My friend President @jairbolsonaro, my prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery.”  PM Modi tweeted his wishes in Portuguese and English languages.

22,752 fresh Coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours:

On Tuesday, India reported fresh 22,752 COVID-19 cases which took the country’s tally to 742417. The number of deaths in the last 24 hours was 482, which increased the death toll to 20,642 in India as per the data provided with the Union Health Ministry. The ministry also reiterated the fact that India’s tally per million population is one of the lowest in the world. Globally, cases per million population average are 1456.25, whereas India’s cases are 505.37 per million population.

A total of 456,831 patients have been treated and discharged in the country, and the active cases increased to 264,944. The number of recovered patients ahead of the active cases is 191,886, which at one point was less than the active cases. The recovery rate marginally rose to 61.53 percent.

Darjeeling closes its doors to the tourists:

The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), in West Bengal, has declared that no tourists will be allowed in the Darjeeling Hills till July 31st. The decision was made in a move to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the area.

Mumbai records lowest single-day spike:

Mumbai recorded its lowest single-day cases count in two months after 806 new infections came out in the last 24 hours. This is a significantly low total which took the city’s tally to 86,132.

Globally, over 11.8 million people have been infected with over 544,000 deaths.
