He tried to delete some data when he was exposed, the Mumbai Police Supplementary Chargesheet. He did not succeed.
How Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra wanted to get into the porn film business has been revealed in a charge sheet filed by the police recently. Raj had planned to increase the number of users of his app 3 times and the profit 8 times in the next 2 years.
He wanted to sell his 119 films for Rs 8.84 crore. If one of his apps was banned, he immediately created another app. Raj was playing a new game of making money illegally from digital media.
He tried to delete some data when he was exposed. However, from what is said in the Mumbai Police Supplementary Chargesheet, it is clear that he did not succeed in deleting the data.
How did the police reach Raj Kundra?
Police raided Mud Island in February this year to speed up a porn racket. In this case, the name of TV actress Gehna Vashisht came up. During the interrogation of Gehna, the police came to know about Umesh Kamat working in Raj’s company Vian Enterprise.
Umesh was sending all the video-sharing applications to Raj Kundra’s London-based brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi. Pradeep was uploading all the videos on the Canrin app. Umesh was transferring the video from Raj’s office.
According to the charge sheet, Umesh’s mobile found an account of the ‘HotShot’ app and two WhatsApp groups named ‘HotShot’ taken down. The admin of both these groups was Raj.
Raj and his company’s IT head Ryan Tharap, Umesh Kamat, Pradeep Bakshi and other employees had a chat about ‘hotshot’ and ‘bollifam’, payment of people working on content, payments from Google and Apple, WhatsApp chat about user revenue, and Mails were also made in this regard. There was talk of income.
From all the talk, the police realized that the mastermind of the porn racket was Raj Kundra. He was uploading pornographic videos and making money through Pradeep Bakshi.
Tried to destroy the evidence
Raj realized that his work was illegal and he could be trapped. That’s why he tried to delete all the data. As a result, Google Play and the Apple Store have banned the ‘HotShot’ app for having pornographic content.
Raj then created another app, ‘Bolifame’. He asked to delete all the data of ‘Hotshot’. Raj also deleted the WhatsApp group and chatted about the ‘Hotshot’ app from his mobile phone after a police case was registered in February. Data was also deleted from Ryan Tharap’s mobile.
After deleting all the data in a roundabout reply to the police, Rajan said that now the police would not reach him. That’s why when the police first issued a notice, Raje asked, “Am I an accused?” I will not sign this letter, “he said. The charge sheet also states that Raj never gave proper answers to the police. As a result, the police did not support the proceedings.
Police searched the data from as many places as possible.
Twenty-four hard disks, including 35 films, were seized from Raj’s office.
There were 16 films from one computer and more than 60 films and PowerPoint presentations from another computer.
Information including content, expenses, income, and plans was obtained from Raj’s computer and mobile app and other accused.
App development costs, ownership transfers, and financial transactions with Google and Apple were obtained from Raj employees and others.
There was also much information from Raj’s web browsing history, facetime history and call logs.
Several email records were checked, such as the number of emails sent by Umesh Kamat to Pradeep Bakshi, in which Raj was also marked.
Raj’s employees become witnesses.
Police have witnessed some employees working in Raj’s company Vian Enterprise. Information about the porn business was obtained based on data and statements from employees working in accounts, IT and other departments.
This was confirmed by email from Google Play and YouTube. Porn content was shown in Raj’s ‘Hotshot’ app. Google Play and YouTube banned the ‘Hotshot’ app. Apple also removed the app from its store. All these emails have reached the police.
