Pooja Bedi justifies the nude beach picture of Milind Soman: “His crime is being good looking.”

The controversial image of model-actor Milind Soman running naked on a southern Goa, beach was defended by actor Pooja Bedi. She said there was ‘absolutely nothing obscene’ in the picture and called it ‘aesthetic.’

Pooja Bedi in her tweet: 

To juxtapose the image of Milind with those of naked Naga sadhus, Pooja took to Twitter and said that ‘smudging ash’ could not make nudity acceptable. Absolutely hardly anything obscene about an aesthetic pic @milindrunning.

The obscenity lies in a viewer’s imagination dreaming more! His offence is being good looking, popular & benchmarks setting! All Naga Babas should be detained if nudity is an offence. It can’t make smearing ash acceptable.

Milind posted a photo of his nude beach run last week on his 55th birthday, which was snapped on by his wife, Ankita Konwar. To me, happy birthday! #55,’ he had it captioned.

Pankaj Kumar Singh to HT:

After he posted the photo, Milind was booked for vulgarity. South Goa Police Superintendent Pankaj Kumar Singh informed to Hindustan Times that, along with other related parts of the Information Technology Act, he was booked under Section 294 (obscenity) of the Indian Penal Code.

Poonam Pandey was also arrested:

Model-actor Poonam Pandey was also in hot water recently for allegedly violating public property and making an offensive video. 

She was arrested by the Goa Police and her partner, Sam Bombay, is out on a bail bond of Rs 20,000 respectively.

When granting them bail, the Canacona judicial magistrate noted that all nudity should not be called obscene. It is important to identify that it is an exception if such representation is in the pursuit of art.

It is clearly a creative pursuit to make films, and even if it were otherwise, deciding the same would be a matter of trial.

 Despite the facts and conditions, one cannot come to the conclusion that all nudity is indecent,’ stated the magistrate.
