UK training of Ukrainian armies is set to be expanded to cover fighter plane pilots and marines.

The UK has also revealed a fresh round of boycotts targeting Russia. The latest boycotts target IT firms and manufacturers of military equipment such as drones and chopper parts.

Plans have been ordered to train Ukrainian pilots to fly Nato-standard fighter planes in the future, a critical appeal from Ukraine.

UK’s help for President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Ukraine: 

Western governments have been considering bolstering help for Ukraine, with the nation bracing for a renewed Russian offensive after this month.

The addition of the UK’s training programme signals a change after the UK said it was “not practical” to send its plane to Ukraine.

Last week, Mr Sunak’s representative told journalists that British military planes were “extremely refined and took months to know how to fly”.

The UK has already revealed plans to send Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, with Ukrainian armies receiving training in how to use them.

No 10 told Mr Sunak would offer to provide Ukraine with “longer range abilities” to disrupt Russia’s power to target Ukraine.

It continued that British training would be mounted up this year, with 20,000 Ukrainian troopers set to be trained. Sir Keir Starmer, director of the opposition Labour Party, stated Ukraine must have the UK’s “full support.”

At Prime Minister’s Questions in Parliament, he held government announcements on additional training for Ukrainian armies.
