Speaking in a webinar organized by BCCI, Rahul
Dravid told state unites to not let ex-players’ experience go to waste.
While interacting with members
of state units, during a webinar organized by the Board of
Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
on Wednesday, former Indian captain and present NCA head Rahul Dravid made a notable suggestion. He urged the state
units to use the expertise of former players as much as possible in its
cricketing set-up.
Use former players’ expertise,
says Rahul Dravid:
The webinar attended by Rahul Dravid included secretaries and cricket operations heads of various state units, BCCI-NCA head of Education Sujith Somasundar and trainer Ashish Kaushik. The discussions were on various components of fitness data collection and resumption of fitness training in the Coronavirus world, Dravid enlightened the administrators with effective ways of troubleshooting mechanisms. A state units’ secretary revealed that Dravid’s suggestion to states was that the states should try and use the former players in their area of expertise and that it was not mandatory to do so.
Virtual training is the way
forward for state cricket teams:
It was reported that the trio
of Dravid, Kaushik, and Somasundar was planning a two-phase training resumption
– virtual and physical. As per the source they said,” Virtual training will be
the way forward. In current circumstances, it will be difficult that 25 or 30
players will be training together. So state team’s trainers and physios will
have to help players virtually and phase-wise a few can come and train
physically.” The source further said that Dravid underlined that if the former
players could be integrated into the cricketing set-up, their expertise and
experience wouldn’t go to waste. Also, Kaushik said that states must
emphasize the collection of diverse data. He urged state team physios to try
and collect as much diverse physical data as possible with regards to players,
which will be helpful in future rehabilitation programmes.
