Police said Rahul Gandhi spoke in Srinagar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, “I have heard that females are still being sexually assaulted.”

Top officials of the Delhi Police today reached Rahul Gandhi’s home in connection with his “females are still being sexually assaulted” comment during the pan-India foot rally ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

Rahul Gandhi was criticised for commenting on sexual assault:

The police notified the Congress leader on March 16, asking him for details of the ladies who had approached him about sexual harassment.

The police unit led by Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda stood near Mr Gandhi’s 12 Tughlaq Lane house for over 60 minutes before the Wayanad MP met them. The police squad then left, and Mr Gandhi was seen leaving his home, driving a car, soon after that.

Rahul Gandhi reportedly told the cops that the Bharat Jodo Yatra was long, and he recalls nothing. The officer then served another statement to him and said his remark would be recorded. Yet, they still need to give a revised timeline for it.

Naming it a ‘shameful act’, Congress said it shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is worried about their questions on the Adani case.

“‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and Rahul Gandhi ji gave ladies a safe platform to share their issues and pains.”
