On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said he is not at all afraid and would resume questioning the links between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the businessman Gautam Adani.
A day after, he was removed as a Parliament member due to his conviction in a defamation suit.
During the press conference, Congress President Rahul Gandhi stated, “I was disqualified because PM Modi is afraid of my next speech about Adani, and I can see it in his eyes.” The Congress leader claimed that the “whole game of disqualification” was intended to “distract” people from the Adani problem.
He criticised the Centre for allegedly supporting the businessman. “For this government, the nation is Adani, as well as Adani, is the country,” Rahul stated.
The Wayanad MP’s membership in Parliament was revoked after he was convicted of 2 years in prison in a defamation case in 2019 for his “Modi surname” statement.
“This is the whole drama that has been orchestrated to defend the PM from the simple question- Who’s Rs 20,000 crore went to Adani’s shell firms?” Rahul asked, adding that he was not frightened of arrest or disqualification.
“All I am interested in is the fact.” “I only speak the truth; it is my job, and I will continue to do it even if I am disqualified or arrested,” the Congress leader stated. “This country has given me everything, which is why I am doing this.”
BJP leaders accused Rahul of disrespecting the OBC community shortly after his conviction by a Surat court. Rahul denied the charges, saying, “I have always talked about brotherhood; this is not about OBCs.”
