Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Goa today, months before the 2022 elections.
On Tuesday, Goa congressman Girish Chodankar told the news agency that Gandhi would speak at the party workers’ Congress at the SPM Stadium in Bambolim near Panaji and attend various other meetings party-level events at a later date.
On Sunday, the chairman of the Congress will meet with the fishermen in Velsao. “Rahul Gandhi will interact with fishermen in Velsao (coastal village) as well as with people. Who will be affected by the doubling project of the railway (which crosses the same village),” Chodankar said. Chodankar added that Gandhi would also meet with people affected by the shutdown of the Panaji mining industry. Before giving a speech ahead of the party conference at the SPM Stadium.
Gandhi’s visit comes just two days after Mamata Banerjee, High Representative of Congress (TMC). And Prime Minister of West Bengal, began her three-day visit to Goa on Thursday. On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and other senior congressional leaders attended a meeting in New Delhi to discuss. The upcoming elections in Goa along with Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Manipur in 2022.
Congress, one of them the main opposition parties in Goa, is preparing to challenge a majority of seats in the upcoming general election.
