Rahul Gandhi to visit Gujarat for Congress training camp in Junagadh

Rahul Gandhi will attend the final day of the ten-day training session for DCC presidents in Junagadh.

Second Visit to the State Within a Week

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will visit Gujarat on Thursday to attend the second phase of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan training session for newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents in Junagadh. This marks Gandhi’s second trip to Gujarat in a week and his seventh visit in the last six months, underlining the party’s renewed focus on the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Earlier, on September 12, Gandhi attended the 10-day camp at Prerna Dham Ashram, which was inaugurated by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on September 10.

Focus on Strengthening Grassroots Leadership

According to Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Chavda, Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Keshod Airport around 1 pm before heading to the venue by road. He is expected to spend three hours with DCC presidents, reviewing their performance and discussing strategies to strengthen the Congress organisation at the grassroots level.

He will hand over performance report cards to DCC presidents, and discussions will focus on the roadmap for the 2027 Gujarat elections,” Chavda said.

The training programme has featured inputs from experts on building cadre strength, sustaining public outreach, and preparing a long-term vision for the state.

Congress Bets on Gujarat Through Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan

The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, launched from Gujarat in April, is the party’s flagship organisational drive aimed at empowering local leadership. The ongoing Junagadh camp is the second and longest phase of the initiative. The first three-day training camp was launched by Gandhi in Anand last month.

Party leaders said the model will later be replicated in other states, but Gujarat has been chosen as the launchpad given its strategic importance for the Congress.

By directly engaging with DCC presidents, Gandhi aims to boost morale, foster accountability, and lay the groundwork for a revived Congress presence in the state.
